At only £49 – including VAT and delivery – this UPS System is a bargain.

The VIX provides everything you need for a simple low cost power protection solution including surge supression, Voltage Regulation and of course battery backup. The unit is simple to operate and comes complete with PC shutdown software that is connected via USB, so you can rest assured you will not lose any data if you have a power cut whilst you are away from your desk (or busy scrambling around in the dark for a torch).

If you’re a retailer, then Christmas is probably your busiest time of the year. The tills are (hopefully) in constant use taking cash, processing credit cards and printing receipts. What would happen if you were to experience a power glitch during your peak trading times and you lost your tills, lost the data, and customers decided to go elsewhere whilst they were waiting for you to reboot (hopefully) and get the systems up and running again. I bet the cost of such problems could run into far more than the £45 or so it costs to buy an ideal system to protect against such problems.

We’ve got the IP-PRO-Evolution at under £45 delivered. This will provide you with quality surge protection as well as battery backup allowing you to continue to trade even if the lights go off for a while.

If you’re short of space then what about the OPTI VS575C for £50 delivered? This is an ideal system for a EPOS terminal.

When money’s tight it’s easy to skimp on the power protection and not spend the money, but at these low prices it’s crazy not to.

We’ve noticed that another online power protection site has sprung up in recent days. One quick view of their site shows that the “About Us” is incomplete. What’s even more concerning is that they charge VAT but make no mention of their VAT registration number! Which begs the question, how can you be sure who you’re buying from and are they reputable?

Well, this question doesn’t concern only those involved with power protection of course, but the first things to check for include the following:

Does the site employ SSL? If you are asked to enter any information, such as when registering for an account, your details should be encrypted using SSL. Your browser should show a padlock symbol or similar when in an SSL environment.

Is the site obvious about who they are? Are you dealing with Joe Bloggs who runs the business out of his garage, or are you dealing with a reputable company. For example, UPSMart is the trading website of Power Inspired Ltd. If you go to the About Us section of the web site you note that we make this as clear as day. Power Inspired are a limited liability company, registered at Companies House, which you can check here.

Any business of substance will be registered for VAT. You can check the VAT number is valid at the Europa Web Site.

Well, these are a few of the obvious things you can check for. I’ve come across web sites that copy exact the layout and feel of the manufacturers web site. You would think you were buying direct from the manufacturer. I’ll have to talk our legal people about this as I’m no legal boffin, but to me this appears misleading at best and even fraudulent. Other sites are clearly created by somebody who has downloaded some web templates, put in some pictures (usually the same one across the range) and is now a bona fide power protection specialist!

You wont find such practices at Power Inspired or on any of our web sites. We are open and clear about who we are and who we represent. There’s honesty and integrity in our organisation and you can rest assured that you can buy with complete confidence from UPSMart.

We’ve recently supplied some of these rackmounting power distribution modules to one of our direct clients and decided it would be a great idea to add them to the shop. There’s virtually an unlimited number of configurations you can have but we’ve included some of the more common variations.

Manufactured to the highest specifications by Eaton Powerware, these electronic Power Distribution Units (ePDU) come in three different flavours:

Basic Just the outlets, no electronics.

Metered Contains easy to read ammeter for current monitoring

Monitored Contains ammeter plus an Ethernet port for monitoring currents over a network.

There’s a combination of input plugs – EN60309 32A and 16A Commando plugs, EN60320 IEC 10A C14 and 16A C20 plugs and the good old BS1363 UK 13A plug.

Output combinations include EN60320 10A C13, 16A C19 and 13A UK outlets, or a combination.

Some of the units can be vertically and horizontally mounted, others vertical only, and the higher powered version in a 2U rack format.

As always competitively prices, these PDUs are an essential addition to any data room installation.

We’re pleased to announce the availability of the VIX series Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS System). Available in two models, 600VA (VIX2060) or 1200VA (VIX2120), these are high value entry level UPS Systems designed for PC applications.

Their line interactive design means that they will protect against voltage fluctuations without needlessly dropping to battery, conserving battery power and life. Each model provides surge suppression, with the 600VA model having a dedicated surge suppression only output port. The pseudo-sinewave inverter makes the systems appropriate for use on stand alone PC’s and software is provided to allow safe shutting down of the PC in the event of mains failure. Communication with the UPS is via a USB interface with supplied cable. A simple LED display shows UPS status at a glance.

The 600VA model will provide protection for all but the most powerful of systems, and the 1200VA for higher powered systems or for added runtime.
